Maintenance & repair Applies to all customers Part of the store terms

When you hand over a device you hand over what is inside it: photographs, messages, accounts and work files. Goldy Maintenance recognises that this weighs far more than any spare part, which is why our privacy policy is written in the language of the workshop rather than a generic template: what we collect, why we ask for your passcode, how far we go into your content, and when we erase what we hold.

What we collect

We collect only what opening and progressing a job requires:

  • Contact details: your name and telephone number, and an email address if you want the report sent there.
  • Device details: model, serial number, visible condition and the accessories handed over.
  • Fault details: your description, the technician's notes and measurements, and photographs of the condition at intake and after repair.
  • Access details: your passcode or unlock pattern, where verification of the repair requires it.
  • Billing details: parts, labour and amounts in SAR.

We do not ask for full banking details, for email or social account credentials, or for anything a repair does not need.

Passcodes and unlock patterns

We ask for one reason only: to prove the device works once repaired. A display, a touch digitiser, a network connection or a speaker cannot be verified behind a locked screen. The passcode is recorded against the job inside our system, never on an open slip of paper, and access is limited to the assigned technician and the supervisor. At collection we recommend you change it immediately, advice Goldy Maintenance gives every customer. If you would rather not share it, say so: the device comes back with the repair only partially verified, and that is recorded on the job to protect both sides.

Backups are your responsibility

This is the most important paragraph on the page. Backing up your data before handing over the device is your responsibility, and Goldy Maintenance does not accept liability for data loss however it arises. Many repairs unavoidably pass through steps that erase data: a system reset, a storage replacement, or a mainboard replacement to which encryption keys are tied, after which the original data is unreadable. Where a device is already dead a prior backup may be impossible, and we set that out at intake so the decision is yours.

If data recovery rather than a working device is your real objective, say so plainly at intake. That priority changes the entire approach, and repeated attempts to power up a device can reduce the chance of recovery.

How far we go into your content

We do not open your files, photographs or messages, and we do not browse your accounts. Contact with content is limited to what testing strictly requires: taking a test photograph that is deleted once the camera is verified, playing an audio clip to check a speaker, or opening an application to confirm touch response. No copy of your content leaves the device except at your written request under a data recovery job. Where we photograph a screen to document a fault, we keep personal information out of frame so far as the evidence allows.

Retention and erasure

Job records and invoices are retained as long as accounting requirements and the warranty period demand, since the invoice supports your warranty claim. Access credentials are deleted once the device is collected and verification is complete. Storage media removed from your device are returned on request; anything unwanted is destroyed to prevent recovery rather than reused. You may ask us to remove your contact details by writing to info@goldysoftactive.com, with invoice records retained where the law requires.

Who else sees anything

We neither sell nor rent your data. A limited amount may reach third parties strictly as needed: a parts supplier who needs the model and serial number to supply a matching component, a specialist laboratory to which we refer intricate work with your prior knowledge, a messaging service through which we tell you the device is ready, or a competent authority under a binding lawful request. No device leaves Goldy Maintenance for another party without your being told.

Your rights and how to use them

You may ask what we hold about you, ask us to correct an error, withdraw consent to reminder messages, and complain about anything you consider an intrusion.
